Badminton is more than just a sport – it's Malaysia's identity on the world stage. From the legendary Sidek Brothers, Rashid Sidek and Jalani Sidek, to a new generation of stars like Lee Zii Jia, Aaron Chia, Soh Wooi Yik, Ng Tze Yong, and the national women's team, Malaysia has long been a global badminton powerhouse. It's no surprise then that badminton betting is among the most popular at gg288, Malaysia's leading sports betting platform.
Why Is Malaysian Badminton So Special?
In most other countries, football reigns supreme. In Malaysia, we have two kings – football and badminton. When the Thomas Cup or Sudirman Cup comes around, the entire nation is swept up in a wave of patriotic pride. People gather at mamak stalls, watch matches together, and cheer on the national team with everything they've got.
gg288 understands and respects Malaysia's badminton culture. That's why we offer the most comprehensive coverage of all major badminton tournaments – from the earliest group stage matches right through to the drama of the final. Every match involving Malaysian players receives special attention, with a wider range of markets and more competitive odds.
How to Bet on Badminton at GG288
Getting started with badminton betting at GG288 is straightforward. Register a free account, make a deposit using your preferred Malaysian payment method such as Touch 'n Go eWallet, GrabPay, DuitNow, or FPX Maybank2u, and navigate to the Badminton section. There you'll find a full list of all available matches to bet on, with the latest odds updated in real time.
For each match, you can choose from a range of bet types. The most straightforward is picking the match winner – simply click on the player or country you back, enter your stake, and confirm. Winnings are credited to your account immediately once the match concludes.
Thomas Cup & Uber Cup – The Team Badminton Showpiece
Among all badminton tournaments, the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup hold a uniquely special place in the hearts of Malaysian fans. The Thomas Cup is the world men's team championship held every two years, while the Uber Cup is its women's equivalent. Malaysia is one of the traditional powerhouses of the Thomas Cup, and whenever the national team takes the court, thousands of GG288 members place their bets in support.
Team format events offer far more exciting betting opportunities than individual matches. You can bet not only on the overall tie result between two countries, but also on the outcome of each individual match within that tie. This means that if Malaysia faces China across five singles and doubles matches, you can place a separate bet on each of those five matches.
Live Badminton Betting – Real Adrenaline
One of the most popular features among players gg288 is the live betting feature for badminton matches. This means you can place or add bets while a match is in progress – with odds updating in real time to reflect the current state of play.
Picture this – Lee Zii Jia drops the first set 18-21. His odds surge to 3.50. Anyone who has followed badminton long enough knows that Lee Zii Jia is an exceptionally strong mental player who often comes back harder in the second and third sets. This is a golden opportunity to step in and bet at higher odds. GG288's live betting lets you capitalise on your knowledge and real-time reading of the game.

While badminton betting can be incredibly thrilling, especially when Malaysia is playing, gg288 always reminds all players to gamble responsibly. Set your daily betting limit before starting a session, never wager money you can't afford to lose, and enjoy betting as added entertainment to your badminton-watching experience – not as a primary source of income.
